Security

Security features are only available in SciDB Enterprise Edition.

This section describes the security features of SciDB.  All users new to using SciDB security features should start by reading the Security Model Overview.   Then read Using iquery in Security Mode to learn how to access your SciDB user account.

If you are a system administrator preparing to install a secure SciDB cluster, read the Enabling Security Mode section.  Then read the sections on User Accounts, Roles, and Namespaces and Permissions to learn how to set up access rules that will meet the needs of your organization.  Optionally, read Configuring SciDB as a PAM Client  to learn how to use SciDB with external authentication services.

The remaining section, File I/O Restrictions, describes how SciDB prevents non-administrative users from reading or overwriting each others' data files.
